I teach college courses in information studies theory and practice.

At Pratt School of Information, The Graduate Center-CUNY, and other NYC-area colleges, I have taught hands-on courses in coding skills such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and D3; mapping and geospatial data skills in Leaflet, Mapbox and ESRI products; as well as the fundamental skills needed for data creation, care, wrangling, and management.

I also teach conceptual and theory-driven courses in information systems, structuring data, community-based practices with information, and data accessibility.

I specialize in advanced graduate courses in information topics that address human rights and social justice contexts.

workshops

I have led and co-led workshops for nonprofit and humanitarian organizations in data practices and skills such as mapping, data cleaning, and data visualization. I have conducted workshops for university research teams in user-centered design strategies content needs assessment for their projects. I have also facilitated activities for research teams to determine their communication needs in developing online public presence for presenting research and advocacy information.
